Jessica, Class of 2012

Jessica is sooooo a future Laker Girl. Seriously, I love how she can throw down and yet still look glamorous. For our shoot, Jessica started with a visit to our amazing make-up and hair stylist, Bree, over at the Grand in Brea, and from there we were off to our awesome uptown Whittier destinations.

This girl has style, and modeling experience (which is so evident!), and can walk in heels, and can ball it up. She’s one of those girls who can get crazy on the basketball court and intimidate a 6’2” opponent and yet still look adorable in her song uniform and pom poms. A fun sporty glamour girl… and man… what a beauty.

Jessica is really into style, and accessories- check out the rad array of feathers and jewelry this girl rocks. I wanted to do something with her that would look really editorial and glamorous and yet still find a way to bring out her fun silly upfront personality. We started out near the longest Harry Potter line ever (which was funny) and then managed to work our way around the downtown area to all sorts of fun funky areas minus the people dressed in HP gear. Jess is a reader, a smarty pants, and an artist. Her work is beautiful, and she’s actually quite a deep girl.

Continuing on our way, our discussions as we shot, were thoughtful and open and I just completely enjoyed hanging out with Jessica and getting to know her in a real way during this shoot. What a privilege.

It must be said that Jessica is a HUGE Laker fan. I mean, huge. She knows all the players and is a little obsessed, so her second wardrobe choice was based on that. Jessica was totally open to experimenting in all sorts of poses and pretty much just wanted to climb on anything she could (awesome!), so it was really fun to walk the back alleys and listen to a garage band practice and just be inspired by our locations and have some fun. The light was beautiful, and it was such a great day.

To finish up our shoot, I had asked Jessica to bring her prom dress as one of her options. It was so bling and sparkly and her, that I just felt it was completely necessary. We had a grand time dancing on the dirt bike trail in upper Whittier and basking in the golden hour of light… absolutely beautiful day and beautiful girl. What a fun shoot.

Thank you so much Jessica for a great day together, for being so open, and for being playful. I’m so excited for you to start your Senior year and graduate. It’s going to be a fantastic year and you have much to look forward to. Enjoy every minute! Blessings!
