Sometimes I have shoots where I know that editing is going to be really really really difficult. Not because there's much to edit per say, but because narrowing down the images is SO hard! This usually happens when my trifecta of awesomeness for shooting portraits happens: 1) perfect light, 2) a gorgeous location, and 3) a beautiful subject who knows how to move. That is what happened on the day of Kelly's Senior portraits. Kelly is a fun, flirty, toy boy of a girl, who loves cameo and shooting guns; I'm not kidding (and I'm right there with her.. except for the cameo part). So when we started talking about location for her shoot, I'd suggested something in the canyon where I love to hike, over in Corona Del Mar; it would feel outdoorsy and natural and a little dusty like an outdoor shooting range would feel. Now, I've been hiking in El Moro Canyon for years, but recently the area has undergone some serious upgrades. A new parking lot, a beach camp ground, and beautiful convenience facilities have greatly improved the area, as well as brought in far more people then ever before. If you haven't been down to El Moro in awhile, now's the time to get down there, its gorgeous! Truly, a perfect location if ever there were one, and I'm so blessed to have had the perfect Senior model for this spot! I could seriously have printed out all 700 photos I took, thrown them up in the air, and then grabbed 70 of them from the fallen stack and they would all be fabulous! It was that kind of day. Trefecta= win! I didn't do that, but I considered it.
