Gorgeous Mama... Corona Del Mar Shoot

Can anyone believe that I’ve never done a real photoshoot of my mom? I was thinking about it weeks ago and realized to my surprise that I’ve never actually done one of her and what a shame that is! Oh course this needed to be remedied. I pulled out my iphone calendar a day or so later, and marked a day in my planner, then called my friend Bree over at the Grand for styling. Mom was gonna get it, photo style, no excuses!

My mom, Sherri, has had a series of major life changes in the past year or so; surgeries, job changes, a 45 minute move from a city she’s lived in for 10+ years, and of course my incredible papa’s passing; just so many difficult changes. Annnd, she’s handled it like a boss! Anyone whose been there knows its hard enough when you have one major life shift, but pile them all one on top of another and it can easily become overwhelming…

In this new season, this brand new day, mom really needed some beautiful photos. Not just because she actually needed headshots for upcoming applications and so on (which she did), but because she needed to see her beauty, and recognize her strength. There's something about the experience of taking photos and seeing yourself in all your beauty that makes an impact on a person. My mom, coming out of so much crazy, needed to get glammed up and go to her favorite place for a photoshoot, I hope it was as empowering as I wanted it to be for her. It amazes me how some of the most insanely beautiful people in our world, simply don’t see that about themselves. Life tears you down sometimes and it’s easy to forget who you are in the midst of all that chaos. Mom needed a little reminder, like so many of us ladies do so often..

and so I present.. my beautiful mother with a cameo from Isabella Spinella...by Jess Spinella
